Christmas at Saltram

Am I am writing this I have a very tired Alec trying to nap on my arm whilst talking about how nice the scotch eggs we got at the Saltram Christmas market were. Due to that I really have no excuse to not share my thoughts on Saltrams Christmas decorations this year.

Saltram house is a National Trust property in Plymouth that looks over the River Plym. Each year they hold a Christmas food and craft market within the ground and decorating the house with each year having a different film, this year was Disney.

After walking around the food and craft fairs, which although were laid out a lot nicer this year with a lot of room for each stall and plenty of room to get around, really wasn't their best year! Saying that they had really nice pasties and scotch eggs as previously discussed but they were the highlight of the fair.

Due to the markets being outside/opposite the house door it felt rude not to go in and have a look but oh my I am glad we did. Each room that was open to look at had at least one tree full of lights and decorations that were perfectly placed to suit its theme and look simply magical.

Beauty and the Beast

I loved that this theme was placed in the library, it just worked perfectly with what they were trying to show.

The Nutcracker

There wasn't much in this room but they did say they were still putting up decorations so maybe next week this one will be complete.

Sleeping Beauty

This was by far my favourite, the colours and decorations just screamed cozy Christmas and the cat on the bed obviously helped.

Alice in Wonderland

There was no way people wouldn't be able to work this room out. There were cards everywhere and even white and red roses around the door in case people still hadn't worked it out when they left.

Narnia

This is another room they said needed work on but to me, after the thought of Game of Thrones left my head, you can clearly see this is Narnia. Although if they do add a lion that would be amazing.

Random Cake Room

This was leading up to the kitchen but the cakes looked so amazing and detailed I feel they need their own section. They look way to good to eat.

Cinderella

For some reason this room took me way to long to work out but obviously Cinderella had to be in the kitchen. There was even mice scattered around the surfaces and portraits on jars to add to the effect. The glass slipper and pumpkin really should have given it away...

So that was Saltram Houses decorations for Christmas this year. From Wednesday the 30th the house and gardens will be open until 10 for people to see their illuminated garden display and get a better view of the finished decorated house. Definitely worth a visit if you live close by.

What room was your fave?

Talk to you later x
