Seeing 5 Seconds Of Summer Live
I've had many
eventful days but the day me and my friend Ellie went to see 5 Seconds of
Summer has to be the most eventful one yet.
The day
started with us simply going out for breakfast, having a quick walk around Sainsburys as that's the only shop near where we were staying then went back home
to revise and have a shower. It was so peaceful and relaxing...until mother
arrived.
Due to not
actually staying in Cardiff it meant we had to get the train there, the train
station was about a 5-10 minute car ride from where we were staying but
obviously only when you are in a rush do you hit all the red lights.
Both Ellie
and I thought we had about 20 minutes to get ready meaning we took our
time...oh no!! We were told we had 3 exact minutes to get changed, do makeup
and finish hair along with getting our butts in the car.
How we
managed to do it I have no idea but somehow we did!!
The side that
we parked the car meant we had to cross the windiest bridge ever resulting
in us running and screaming praying we wouldn't fall!! (We didn't).
Annoyingly we
had about a 10 minute wait for the bus which meant we could have actually
finished out makeup instead of having to do it on the train but I guess early
is better then late!!
The train
arrived and we were so happy that we could relax again for another half hour
and finish making ourselves looks half decent. Oh how we were wrong. After
about three stops and waiting for what felt like ages for the ticket man to
come, he was in our carriage and could see that we needed to buy tickets, to
have the surprise of him walking past us and announce on a speaker that the
train was unable to continue to Cardiff and we would have to get the bus. Now
don’t get me wrong there is nothing wrong with that, except I had no idea where
the hell we were! I have traveled to Cardiff many times now via the train and
I’m getting quite good at saying what is where at all the stops that I have to
go through on the way. But wherever we had to get off the train I had no idea,
I even tried explaining it to family members that lived in Wales and they had
no clue either. Due to needing to be the cool head of the two (Ellie doesn’t
cope well under pressure) I asked people opposite us if they were also going to
Cardiff and if we could stick with them as we had no idea what we were doing.
Thankfully they laughed and let us follow them to the two buses that were
provided for us. Although it wasn’t the most ideal situation at least we knew
it was going to get us to Cardiff.
Yet somehow
the train company didn’t think it through and only supplied two buses, one
going to Newport and one going to Cardiff, so as you would expect all of us
going to Cardiff got onto the Cardiff bus yet due to there being so many of us,
loads of us were standing and it got to the point that those that hadn’t got on
the bus yet was saying how unsafe it was and how this could have been planned
better. As much as I hate confrontation this time I was actually kinda glad
someone said something as the Newport bus then said it will take people to
Cardiff afterwards. Ideal! Ellie and I quickly jumped off the Cardiff bus that
would have resulted in us standing up and hitting loads of people as the bus
moved for half an hour to a bus that was going the other way but meant we could
actually sit down. At the time we thought this was a good idea, maybe not! For
those who don’t know Newport was the complete opposite direction to Cardiff in
comparison to wherever we were meaning the time that we would arrive in Cardiff
was becoming further and further away. Either way we had a laugh and I was able
to show Ellie more of Wales and finally we got to Cardiff.
Now being the
smug idiots that we were, gloating that we didn’t have to pay for train nor bus
tickets meaning we got to Cardiff for free, we didn’t realize that would stop
us from getting out of the bus station. Now like mentioned before I was feeling
pretty smug and wasn’t going to pay for what would now be an expensive train
ticket (why do they always charge more paying at stations rather then on the
train) to just get through some gates to get us into Cardiff central. Instead I
dragged, quite literally, a complaining Ellie (she had a small rip in her
tights and she was going crazy over it although the stress caused me to create
a massive ladder, she didn’t see how little I cared (sorry Ellie but there were
bigger things I was thinking about)) and made her walk around the train and bus
station just so we didn’t have pay. It worked though; it got us to where we
needed to be.
Like most
people who go to Cardiff we went shopping. Sadly I didn’t get anything, mainly
cause I am trying to save money and the only thing I really wanted was a £55
dress from Topshop which I really didn’t need, especially at that price. Ellie
got a few things and in the end we were wandering around looking for shops that
we hadn’t already looked at.
Now as much
as I was flattered to know that two boys thought Ellie and I were cute but did
they really need to run at us to inform us. Yes they did literally run. The
worst parts were the fact that one of them said that they were a musician and
travels often especially down to Plymouth and that they both had to be in the
late 20’s or early 30’s whilst both Ellie and I were 17. It was just super
awkward. With this the ‘musician’ then tried to get Ellie to skype him later
that day. I’m sorry what? Why do boys feel the need to beg for attention? If
they both just came up to us and started speaking to us nicely instead of
making it look like they just wanted to get into our pants we would both
probably have talked but it was just creepy. To any boys reading this, please
don’t try and force girls to give you their number or follow you on social
media pages as its just uncomfortable and makes you look super desperate. Just
be nice and we will be nice back. Same for girls, don’t push yourself onto
other people, it’s just a bad situation for everyone involved.
Either way we
managed to get away and walk into the Mac shop leading to Ellie and I wanting to
cry and all the amazing makeup neither of us could afford to buy. This also led
to us playing the game find-the-5SOS-fans. It was good fun actually. Yet during
this game we then spotted those lads twice again. Scarily once by the girl’s
toilets that really freaked us out. Now I’m not saying that they were following
us or that they were being inappropriate but it was just freaky, plus both
Ellie and I are paranoid so that doesn’t help. We decided maybe if we left the
shopping centre this would be better and maybe we could find somewhere to eat.
Oh how we were wrong.
To put a long
story short, after sitting down for ages contemplating where to go, Ellie is a
fussy eater, we had to call my boyfriend so he could help us find where we were
and get us back into the shopping centre with the food courts allowing us to go
and eat. To this day Ellie is still smug that she was able to get us back to
the food court before Sam could. Sorry Sam!
You would
think it would be easy for two girls to find somewhere to eat when there are so
many options and we needed to eat before the concert. Of course not! Instead of
going to Ed’s Dinner where we were planning on going, or Pret where Ellie gave
as an alternative we went to a Mexican restaurant that neither of us had heard
of before. Such a sensible decision! Ellie had the chicken wings that she
swears was under cooked so only ate half of one of the three and just ate my
chips whilst I had some chicken that still looked pick so I just took them out
and ate the rest. Personally we both said we wouldn’t go back but I’m sure
there isn’t actually anything wrong with the food and we were both just over
reacting. The actual restaurant itself looked amazing and was cozy but you
still had your own space. It was very nice in that sense, very Mexican like.
Due to being
such nice people (or stupid either way) I volunteered us to take my neighbours
cousin and her friend into the concert and take them to their seats even if
they were literally diagonally opposite to where we were sitting. So once we
collected them we stood watching the line get bigger and bigger until the doors
opened. Somehow this created three separate lines, which was quite amusing to
watch. Yet this turned into us getting impatient so whilst the line was at the
shortest that we had ever seen it we quickly joined resulting in us only having
to line up for what must have been less then 5 minutes. Just when Ellie and I
thought that the day was about to get better our tickets wouldn’t scan. I
wanted to cry! It had something to do with the ink smudging meaning it wouldn’t
work but thankfully the lady was kind enough to let us in anyway. I have never
been so relieved my whole life…then we had to get to our seats. Getting the two
girls to theirs was simple as Ellie and I were able to push our way through
(must have been due to the stressful day) allowing us plenty of time to get to
our seats before the opening act came on.
Lets just say
this procedure nearly ended our friendship with the arguments we had on what we
should do and trying not to create a scene, except sadly we did! We had the
seat numbers 59 and 60 but for some strange reason the row ended at number 59.
Two girls in the row tried to help us but even with their help we couldn’t work
it out. If you think you’ve caused a massive scene before then you should have
seen this. We had to get two assistances to come and…well assist, but this
caused a slight problem, especially when the opening act came on just as the
man was looking at our tickets resulting in the whole room going dark except
for my phone light reflecting on the paper so the man can see the seat numbers.
Thankfully the second man we had was more helpful and asked the people on our
row to all move up one enabling us to sit together. I have never apologized to
so many people in my life. Embarrassed was an understatement. Due to not
actually knowing who the opening act was it wasn’t that big of a loss even if
they were good. Sadly the only thing we could focus on was protecting Ellie
from getting attacked by the foam finger of the person next to her. We clearly
annoyed her!
Thankfully it
didn’t take long for 5 Seconds of Summer to come on and we were up dancing and
singing along like crazy people. I’m surprised after the day we had that we
didn’t go crazy! The boys were amazing and we both loved the show, even if
Ellie didn’t know all the songs and felt that they could have interacted with
the crowd more. But hey it was 5 Seconds of Summer, we didn’t care after that.
Although we
planned to meet the girls after the show was over to take them back to their
hotel we couldn’t find them anywhere! We were basically the last people to
leave the venue and looked everywhere for them with no clue where they could
be. Due to the stress and excitement I didn’t even think about getting their
numbers meaning I had no way of calling them but somehow they got mine and text
me saying that they were back at the hotel and were fine. How I was not covered
in grey hairs I have no idea!
After waiting
for ages outside the hotel, and dragging Ellie around the shopping centre cause
she needed the loo, we finally got picked up and started our journey back to
Plymouth. 1am and home, ready to get up at half 6 for a shower and school. It
was an interesting day lets just say that!
Talk to you
later x
