100 years of remembering

A year ago I lost one of my best friends. 100 years ago families had to start again due to losing loved ones. Wether it was the first war, second or those that are currently happening, people are risking their lives so we can stay alive. People are literally dying to keep others alive, and some people can't even do a two minute silence.

This year, 2015 celebrates a 100 years of remembering those who fought and died in the war. With this fact in mind and everything else you know about rememberance day, how can you not stop for two minutes, that is all it is two little minutes, to not talk or do anything and remember what people went through just so life could be what it is like today, you can speak the language you currently are, you are able to feel safe and to even have the stupid view that you no longer need to show respect. It shouldn't bother me so much but how can anyone not show respect, especially when I was in school. 99% of people would be quiet and just not do anything but there was always that small group who feel the need to laugh or just talk. Why? Just why?

Rant over and on a more positive note, in the little village that my grandad lived, they used his picture as the 'poster boy' for their Rememberance Day event as he would have been one of if not the last D-day veterans in the village. So they was nice.

Anyway, what is your view on the two minute silence? I personally feel like it should be longer but then it is called Rememberance day...

Talk to you later x
