A Sober Night Out?

Sober on a night out. A concept to many people, especially those who have only recently had the ability to go out, this is an unthinkable. Many people see a 'night on the town' as a way of getting super drunk and forget it all the next day.

To me that is stupid.

Night outs are so expensive, why drink so much that you don't remember what you just spent that £50 and being too scared to check your phone? Also whilst we are on the topic, why the hell is entry into clubs so expensive? £10 entry into a club you will probably stay in two hours best is a joke! Okay...rant over!

I have been out multiple times sober, or only slightly intoxicated, and okay yes it may not be as great as it would be with more alcohol in your system but it's really not as bad as people make it out to be. Yes alcohol does give people more confidence to talk to others, dance etc but it's surprising how easy this is to do sober as well.

It's surprising how often people do things they would never do sober just because they are drinking and how often does it result in something good? You wouldn't start a fight with a girl because she 'looked at you funny' if you were sober and you wouldn't grab someone's ass when you are sober so why do it drunk? Let's be real here, how often after a night out have you regretted what you did and knew it was a bad idea at the time? I can ensure you now none of that happens when you stay sober. No drunk texts to an ex, no bad food choices, no constant falling over or getting gobby at a stranger because they 'looked at you funny', but you still get to do all the fun things.

Dancing - no-one is going to remember you let alone your dancing so why not still go crazy, also less likely to fall or hit someone
All-nighters - you haven't had alcohol which makes you sleepy meaning I was able to last a lot longer then the rest of my group
Deep talks - sober you remembers this stuff which makes it great when your friend is having a bad day because you will have a clearer idea on what to do

So the point to this post, I'm not saying people should all stop drinking when they want to go out but try it, I've had many good night outs sober (I have way too many medical problems to discuss why) and see how different and actually insightful into all the stupid crap you would waste money on and activities you would get up to. Try it, you may be pleasantly surprised and can save money during this.

There are just so many stories going around at the moment of people getting seriously injured or dying due to being to drunk that it scares me. How long until its not just some random stranger? What happens if the next person of my friend or even myself?

Have you ever been out sober? Would love to know your thoughts.

Talk to you later x
