A Mini Trip To Oxford - Travel Diary

Last Saturday whilst on our way back to Wales from Harry Potter Studios Tour we decided to have a mini detour to Oxford to make a most of the free museums and stretch our legs. Unfortunately it was freezing cold and started snowing, we were still tired from the day before and I was  feeling ill BUT, with all that said, I have still fallen head over heels in love with this city. (No surprises there)

Whilst in Oxford we braved the weather and walked down the cute alleyways towards the market to warm up before we decided where to go. We ended up in the Natural History Museum and the WONDERFUL Pitt Rivers museum which is my new favourite place in the entire world.

For those who don't know the Pitt Rivers museum is not like any other museum. The room is PACKED full of artefacts from all corners of the world and displayed like no other museum. Every part of the museum is filled from the walls to the ceilings! It is amazing!!!
Instead of having a specific Egypt section then Greek section etc all of the spears from around of the world will be put together and all the dolls will be put together so you can see how different/similar they are from the different part of the worlds. I feel like every museum should now be laid out like this as it was just so interesting to compare and get a clear view on how things have changed.

Whilst in Oxford you obviously have to go to the Bodleian! Whilst we were there a literacy festival was taking place so we weren't able to see as much as we wanted to but I did get to see their suffragette section which 100% needs to be promoted more. As someone who has read a lot of feminism books I knew a lot about the people they were talking about BUT for someone who hasn't read about badass women or younger girls this exhibition is a must.

Unfortunately that was all we got to see whilst in Oxford but it has been added to the list of places I must go back and see.

What is your favourite thing to do/see in Oxford?

Talk to you later x
