Low Waste Advent Calendar - Low Waste Movement

Better late than never?

May be a little late to the show but hey, like the captain says - better late than never right?

Reusable advent calendars, such a simple idea and a family fun activity. Each year my parents would put a piece of chocolate in each pocket with the decorations and to me, as a child, that was the most amazing thing ever! All advent calendars produce the same chocolate each year with each door but with a reusable advent calendar each day, and each year, a new surprise is waiting to be put on the felt tree.

Due to the low waste movement becoming more and more popular reusable advent calendars are becoming more available so can now be easily purchased but why not do what my mum did? Get a group of friends together, or your family, and make the base yourself. All you need is left over material, Christmas scraps and no longer used decorations.

Reusable advent calendars can be used year after year and passed on from generations and adapted to suit everyone's styles. We've had this calendar for about 20 years and each year it gets a new addition or a slight change making me excited to see how much it will change over the years.

Have you got a reusable advent calendar? What would you fill yours with?
